Sixth Form

 Sixth Form Open Evening

We look forward to welcoming all prospective sixth form students to our open evening on Thursday 16th November.

During this event you will be able to hear a talk from our Sixth Form team and explore the subjects and enrichment offering that we have here at Future Academies Watford. We are very much looking forward to this event and if you have any questions about this please do not hesitate to contact us g.gardner@watford.futureacademies.org

“The staff and students are very proud of our sixth form and the important role it plays in the life of the academy.

We have a strong record of success and achievement, as well as being recognised for the personalised support and development we offer each student.

Students in the sixth form benefit from an area of the academy dedicated to their sole use for both teaching and personal study.

This works to create a positive and focused learning environment, supporting students as they develop into effective independent learners.

We deliver a curriculum that is ambitious, inspiring and challenging, providing students with an opportunity to find the areas in which they excel and have a true passion for.

This starts with high quality learning in lessons taught by subject experts, and a desire to enable students to achieve their goals.”

Pastoral care

Students in the Sixth Form have access to a dedicated study area which is well-equipped and supervised by the Sixth Form Attendance and Welfare Officer.

Throughout their time in the sixth form our careers programme and support with the university application process includes 1:1 guidance.

Students in the sixth form take part in enrichment activities such as attending specialist lectures, cultural events and trips to museums, galleries and theatres, as well as participating in relevant bespoke work experience, which we assist in finding.

We also take the opportunity to invite specialists to talk to students about world issues such as topical news stories, politics, mental health, health & nutrition and relationships. There have been opportunities in the past for students to study for Duke Of Edinburgh and First Aid qualifications, and take part in public speaking and debating.

Careers education

Along with our knowledge-rich curriculum, Careers in Education is one of the key pillars of Future Academies. We believe that a strong Careers programme is an essential part of raising the aspirations of our pupils and giving them both the knowledge and the skills to achieve excellence, regardless of their background or individual circumstances.

Our Enrichment scheme encompasses the following four areas:

  • Connect pupils to the world of work, future education, training and employment
  • Enrich the curriculum
  • Provide exposure to culture, the arts and sport
  • Build character, integrity, resilience and judgement
