On Tuesday 9th February, Mrs Emma Lack, our amazing Drama and English teacher sadly passed away; Mrs Lack had been battling cancer since last spring.
Since receiving this sad news, we have sent our condolences to Mrs Lack’s family, her colleagues and friends.
Mrs Lack taught at the academy for many years and was an inspiration to our young people. She had a glowing smile and the biggest of hearts. This sad news will be felt by all of the staff, as well as the students she has taught. She will always be remembered as being an inspiration and a champion for all students but particularly students who needed an extra bit of support and care; in her classroom, they found this and so much more.
Over the coming days, we will consider how, as a community, we come together to show Emma and her family how much she meant to us. In the meanwhile, if you or your child would like to send a message of condolence, we will put these together with messages from the academy staff and ensure they are given to her family at an appropriate time.
We understand that this news may be very upsetting for some students. As always, we will be available to offer support for anyone who wishes to come in and talk about Mrs Lack or if this sad news prompts feelings of sadness regarding the loss of other family members or friends; please do not hesitate to contact us. Help, support and guidance on bereavement and loss can also be found on our VLE.
Our thoughts and prayers are sent to Mrs Lack’s husband, family, friends, colleagues and students at this very sad time.
