    Our menus are designed with student tastes in mind, while ensuring all meals are nutritious and fully compliant with government guidelines.

    Cucina, our dedicated catering partner, serves a wide variety of fresh and balanced dishes each day – from hearty main meals to lighter ‘grab and go’ options such as sandwiches, wraps, and salad pots. The menus include familiar favourites alongside exciting new flavours, with regular themed and Celebration Days to keep things fresh and fun.

    Start the Day Right – Free Breakfast for All Students

    We’re pleased to offer free porridge breakfasts to all students each morning. Packed with slow-releasing energy, porridge helps keep students full, focused, and ready to learn.

    There’s also a range of affordable ‘Cheap Eats’ available from just £1.05 – including cereal, toast, croissants, pancakes, and more.

    Free School Meals

    Your child may be eligible for free school meals. Even if they choose not to take up the meals, applying is still important. For every student who is registered, the Academy receives additional funding – up to £1,300 per year – which helps us provide extra support such as tuition, resources, and tailored interventions. Find out if your child is entitled to free school meals.

    Your child can get a free school meal if you receive any of the following:

    Universal Credit (household income ≤ £7,400)
    Income Support
    Income‑based Jobseeker’s Allowance
    Income‑related Employment and Support Allowance
    Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
    Guarantee element of Pension Credit
    Child Tax Credit (without Working Tax Credit)
    Families with no recourse to public funds may also qualify under separate criteria.

Major Changes from September 2026

According to Hertfordshire school communications:

Expanded entitlement

  • All families receiving Universal Credit will be entitled to free school meals regardless of income.
  • Two categories will exist:
    • Targeted FSM: UC households earning ≤ £7,400 (includes Pupil Premium and other support).
    • Expanded FSM: UC households earning > £7,400 (free meals only).
  • Families not on UC must meet other qualifying benefits to remain eligible.

How to Apply

Applications are made through Hertfordshire County Council:

  • You need your National Insurance number or Home Office number.

Parents should apply even if previously told they were not eligible, due to expanded criteria from 2026.

Cashless Payment

Future Academies Watford is a cashless school. We use MyChildstSchool App (MCAS) for all payments for school dinners and other payments like trips.

All parents should have access to MCAS if their child in on-roll with Future Academies Watford. If you have issues and cannot access MCAS, please contact us via reception@watford.futureacademies.org
